On November 11, at the intersection of Nauky Avenue and Tobolska Street, an SUV driven by 34-year-old Dmytro Lysenko hit two minors. At the time of the accident, the driver of the Toyota Land Cruiser was under the influence of drugs.
Lawyers SENS Consulting – Sense Consulting spoke with the head of the transportation crimes department, who reported that all identified witnesses had been questioned, the children were recognized as victims, and a motion to seize the vehicle is pending review (it is currently impounded). According to our information, no drugs were found in the car or on the driver. However, as previously reported, the urine drug test was positive. Next steps include reviewing available materials, and investigators promise full transparency.
Police leadership understands that the case is under public scrutiny and that not only their superiors should see the work and be kept informed. The suspected driver was convicted of theft in May of this year and received a 3-year suspended sentence ( https://bit.ly/3HkcITZ). A person with the same full name was charged with an administrative offense under Article 130 (driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicants), and the case is pending in the F.E. Dzerzhinsky Shevchenkivsky District Court (yes, we still have such courts).
As known, the vehicle does not belong to the suspect (the owner is a legal entity). Currently, the legitimacy of his possession of the vehicle and the actions of the owner’s officials regarding this matter are being investigated. This information should be subject to particular attention.
As of today, the victims are still in the hospital.
