Can You get Divorced if the Wife is Pregnant or the Child is under one Year Old?
The Family Code of Ukraine provides certain restrictions on divorce if the wife is pregnant or if the child is under one year old. These restrictions are aimed at protecting the interests of the mother and child.
However, in special cases where there are exceptional circumstances (such as violence, threat to life or health of the mother or child), the court may grant a divorce despite the usual restrictions.
How is Child Support Determined?
The parent who doesn’t live with the children is obligated to pay child support. The amount is usually determined as a portion of the payer’s income and depends on the number of children and income level.
